Pen and Ink
I started creating art as a child when it became evident I could draw anything I saw in minute detail and realistic perspective. That natural skill was a major element in my success as an Architect.
Unlike most artists’ pen-and-ink work, I “paint” with professional-grade pens with thin, flexible points. This technique allows me to achieve a variety of widths and depths. Instead of using continuous lines, I use short pen strokes at various angles and in many layers to create depth and darkness. No computers are used for line work or perspective. Rarely do I actually draw the subject, but rather the negative space that surrounds it. My more complex pen-and-ink works contain hundreds of thousands of individual strokes.
