ABOUT THE ARTIST AND THE WORK
Spencer Allen Johnson has been drawing and creating art in various forms for over 60 years.
As an Architect for 42 years, he traveled and worked internationally, designing very large commercial projects in modern and developing countries.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS
His world travels led to the creation of an art style that reflects his experiences in fantasy and imaginary depictions of those places and lifestyles, merged into a time in the past. Each work springs from the imagination of the Artist. Nothing is real – the locations, the people, the landscapes, or the architecture. The body of work depicts several subject matters: still life, village activities, and pastoral scenes. There are no dragons, witches, magicians, or war — just people living their everyday lives.
PAINTING WITH INK
Each work begins with a freehand pencil sketch. Then, using a very-fine flexible pen, ink is applied in short strokes in a paintbrush fashion: Painting With Ink. Additional color is added through computer processes. There is no computer-assisted drawing (CAD) used in any of the work.
